Pickleball at UTC – May 1st-July 31st
All are welcome to enjoy pickleball at Westfield UTC! For a limited time, play on one of 3 regulation-sized outdoor courts on the upper level above True Food Kitchen. These complimentary courts are available daily during daylight hours on a first-come, first-serve basis for open play.
University of San Diego Wine Classic – July 15th
The University of San Diego Alumni Association invites you to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the USD Wine Classic! Join wine aficionados from across the country to enjoy tastes from over 20 wineries, gourmet food, and live entertainment. Event proceeds support the Alumni Endowed Scholarship Fund. This Alumni Association signature event has raised more than $850,000 for student scholarships.
Pupologie Cardiff Dog Days of Summer – July 16th
Calling all San Diego dog lovers! This free event features numerous dog-related vendors, rescue groups, and pet adoption agencies. Activities include dog contests, live music, libation lounge, food trucks, and more!
Comic Con – July 20-23rd
The largest comics and pop culture event in the United States, attracting thousands of artists, celebrities and fans of comic books, movie memorabilia and all things related to pop culture, is returning to San Diego Convention Center on July 20–23. Attendees can enjoy exclusive previews of upcoming feature films, portfolio-review sessions with top comic book and video game companies, and evening events such as awards ceremonies and the Masquerade, a costume contest; and the Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival, which showcases shorts and feature-length movies that do not have distribution or distribution deals.
Del Mar Racetrack – July 21st – September 10th
Fans will flock where the “turf meets the surf” for the 2023 racing season to bet on the nation’s top racehorses, trainers and jockeys while having fun in the sun. Aside from the high-quality racing, there will also be various trackside events available to attend from July 21 to Sept. 10.
The Tina Turner Musical – July 25-30th
An uplifting comeback story like no other, TINA – The Tina Turner Musical is the inspiring journey of a woman who broke barriers and became the Queen of Rock n’ Roll.
Liberty Station Art District Art Walk – August 4-6th
ArtWalk @ Liberty Station celebrates 18 years of bringing fine art to San Diego at the beautiful Liberty Station. The show celebrates creativity from both sides of the border, with more than 150 artists coming from across several states and Mexico to show and sell their artwork, including paintings, photography, glass and ceramic, jewelry and sculpture. Saturday and Sunday are free entry, Friday is an exclusive event that requires a paid ticket for entry.
Best of San Diego Party – August 18th
The Best of San Diego Party presented by San Diego Magazine is the ultimate summer celebration. The event brings together the top local restaurants, breweries, wineries, distilleries and businesses as featured in San Diego Magazine‘s Best Restaurants and Best of San Diego issues. Humphreys Concerts by the Bay
The 1,400 seat outdoor theater, ideally situated on San Diego Bay, has been presenting a wide variety of major attractions since 1982. Running all the way through October, Humphreys Concerts covers the total spectrum of entertainment from rock and jazz to comedy, blues, folk and international music.

Torrey Pines Gliderport
What a fun way to see aviation in action, from the top of the Torrey Pines Bluffs! Gliderport is home to one of the most historic aviation sites in North America. Be in awe as you watch paragliding, hang gliding, remote control models and sailplanes take flight over the La Jolla Bluffs and enjoy a coast view for miles. Bring a picnic or grab some lunch at the Cliffhanger Café and have front row seats to an amazing aviation experience!
Train Rides at the Old Poway Park
The Poway-Midland Railroad is a full-size, narrow-gauge railroad in Old Poway Park which carries passengers aboard vintage and antique railroad equipment. The railroad is owned by the City of Poway, and operated by the Poway Midland Railroad Volunteers. Through the restoration, preservation, and operation of vintage railroad equipment, the Volunteers are able to offer the community a vintage train ride around the park and provide educational programs as well.
Cabrillo National Monument
Located right at the tip of Point Loma is the Cabrillo National Monument statue honoring Cabrillo, who discovered San Diego Bay. All in one location you have the Bayside Trail that offers spectacular views of San Diego Bay, tide pool area that offers a unique opportunity to see shore creatures up close and personal, or you can guide yourself through the old 1855 built lighthouse… basically lots of history, mixed with breathtaking views of downtown! Count me in.
Annie’s Canyon Trail
Enjoy the outdoors with an adventurous day exploring the sandstone crevasse that has created a hiking path up to a 200-foot elevation above sea level. The canyon was sculpted by water over time, which poured over sandstone and smoothed its surface into narrow corridors with sandy footing like a dry creek bed. Whether you hike through the steep switchbacks, or choose the winding path to the overlook, once you reach the top you are welcomed with panoramic ocean and lagoon views! It’s an experience the whole family will enjoy.
Coastal E-Bike Tours & Rentals
With so much to see in Encinitas, Leucadia, Cardiff by the Sea, Solana Beach, Del Mar, and more, what better way to experience the sites and sounds than on an electric bike rental! Coastal E-Bike offers guided bike tours that include an electric bike, local guide, views of beautiful landscape, history of the areas, and popular places to eat, drink, shop, and hang out.
Sesame Place
Sesame Place is a kid-oriented destination inspired by the “Sesame Street” TV series. It features a neighborhood constructed to resemble the show’s set with recognizable locations like Hooper’s Store and Big Bird’s Nest. Children can have their photos taken with some of their favorite puppet characters or hear them tell stories. Sesame Place also has a variety of themed rides, numerous water slides, live parades and shows. A perfect day for the kiddos.
Waterfront Park
Enjoy a fun filled day at San Diego’s Waterfront Park, flanked with views of the city skyline and the San Diego Bay. Splash through interactive water fountains, play and explore in the futuristic playground and run free in the open park!
Windmill Food Hall
Carlsbad’s Windmill Food Hall is a must-try with a chill vibe that will make you want to stay and relax. Olympian Training Ground – Chula Vista
The Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center, an Olympic Training Site, is set on 155 acres and based in south San Diego County. It is home to over 20 sports with teams and athletes across Olympic, Paralympic, professional, collegiate and international countries. There are different tour options available and you’ll be able to see firsthand where some of the best Olympians train, right here in San Diego.
Torrey Pines State Reserve
Torrey Pines State Reserve is located within San Diego city limits and still remains one of the wildest stretches of land on the Southern California coast! Not to mention one of the most beautiful sights we’ve seen. Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve is a popular destination by travelers because of its 1,750 acres of stunning overlooks, peaceful trails, and beautiful environment… and right below, Torrey Pines State Beach. Whichever destination you choose, you will be in awe.
Mount Soledad Lookout
Mt. Soledad is one of the top 5 viewpoints to see when visiting San Diego. A living memorial with breathtaking panoramic views is considered a bit of a secret gem in La Jolla. The dense vegetation and local wildlife such as rabbits, foxes, and bobcats has provided a natural feel within a city environment. The hike to the summit is approximately 1.3 miles with plenty of rest stops so that you can enjoy the views… but if the trails are too much, simply take a leisurely drive to the summit to enjoy the views.
The Wave Water Park
Come visit Vista’s own water park equipped with a pool, water slide, simulated wave attraction & lazy river. Includes a splash pad area for smaller kids and cabanas are available for rent.
Star Theatre
The Star Theatre is the largest of Balch’s 17 theaters that were located in the state of California and the last one that is still open resides in downtown Oceanside. You can’t miss the iconic marquee and the history that the theater holds.
Whether you catch a classical musical or set the kids up for theatre summer camp, the Star Theatre is one you want to be sure to check out for memorable entertainment.
Gondola Rides at Lake San Marcos
The Black Swan Gondola Company provides San Diego gondola cruises and was founded on the idea of merging the Venetian culture with Lake San Marcos to showcase the beauty of San Diego. One of the first things that comes to mind when you think of Venice, Italy is that it’s the city of romance. That same romance is alive in this picturesque San Diego lake town with its own beauty and grace. As you cruise through the lake you get the feel of the canals of Italy, with the water-based atmosphere and picturesque sunsets. Black Swan shows you amore (love) and an experience you’ll never forget.
Spruce Street Suspension Bridge
One of our favorite things to do is soak up the beautiful San Diego weather, which means a lot of our favorite activities involve the outdoors. However, this one is not for those who are afraid of heights. Bring your bravery and take a stroll across this 375 foot long suspension bridge, it’s a San Diego must. The Spruce Street Suspension Bridge was built in 1912, and is hidden within the residential neighborhood of Bankers Hill. Beware: The bridge suspends over a giant canyon and word around town is that with a sharp wind gust, the bridge can swing slightly, WHEEEEE! 🙂
Oceanside Harbor Boat Rentals
Rent a paddle board, kayak, canoe or boat and get out on the water with the kiddos. Cruise your way through the harbor for an afternoon of fun in the sun and if you’re lucky…you might even have an occasional up close and personal seal encounter!
Seaport Village
A 14 acre waterfront shopping, dining and entertainment complex recreating a harbor side setting of a century ago. Includes 54 one of a kind shops, 13 casual dining eateries, 4 fine dining waterfront restaurants, and located in close proximity to local hotels. Opened in 1980 and still a staple in your San Diego bucket list.
La Jolla Cove Snorkel Tour
Join an experienced tour guide and check out La Jolla coves up close and personal. Discover spectacular underwater rock formations, lush marine gardens, bright orange garibaldi, sea cucumbers, anemones & sea stars. You never know what kind of mystical marine treasure you might find when snorkeling one of Southern California’s favorite beaches.
Old Town Historic Park
Old Town State Historic Park preserves the original Euro-American settlement in San Diego, established in the 1820s when San Diego was a part of the newly independent nation of Mexico. A beautiful place to connect to the past and explore the history of our very own city. The core of restored original historic buildings from the interpretive period are complemented by reconstructed sites, along with early twentieth century buildings designed in the same mode. Five original adobe buildings are part of the historic park, which include museums, unique retail shops, and several restaurants.
El Corazon Aquatics Center
A little different from your traditional neighborhood park, but no less entertaining… El Corazon Aquatics Center is the City of Oceanside’s first ever world-class aquatics center that will provide competition-level amenities. Whether you’re swimming 50-meter laps to train for the Olympics, showing off your latest dance moves in water aerobics class, or taking the kids to the splash pad… there is truly an option for everyone.
La Jolla Caves
Check out the world famous Sunny Jim Sea Cave in Ja Jolla. The unique and beautiful cave has a manmade tunnel from inside the Cave Store with a 145-step decent which allows you to enter the Sunny Jim Cave by land – this is the only cave you are able to access by land on the California coastline. It’s truly a great experience that you won’t find anywhere else.
Harper’s Topiary Garden
Harper’s Topiary Garden was created by a Mission Hills couple about 15 years ago who wanted to turn their front yard into a masterful work of art that everyone could enjoy and appreciate. Gawk at over 50 life-sized figurines all trimmed by hand. The owners of this property were inspired by their travels all around the world and transformed their basic shrubbery into sculptured art pieces. While the owners welcome visitors to enjoy their natural art, please do not touch or enter the private residence. It is there to visually enjoy and of course photograph for your unique Insta post!
Batiquitos Lagoon
The famous Batiquitos Lagoon runs between the cities of Carlsbad and Encinitas. Our favorite spot to access is off of Gabbiano Lane, which is South Carlsbad. After priding myself for being a San Diego native and seeing the Batiquitos trails over and over again, I just recently stumbled upon a hidden gem… swings! They overlook the entire lagoon, with views of the Pacific Ocean in the distance. What better way to wind down and enjoy a sunset after a long day?
Leo Carrillo Ranch House
Prance around with the peacocks and play on an authentic and historic ranch. The perfect place to bring the family for a day full of wandering. This ranch is equipped with old buildings and farming equipment and is a hidden treasure right in the city of Carlsbad. Pack a picnic and don’t forget to bring your camera, as this spot is a must for your next Instagram post!

Who doesn’t love a day at the pool? Cool off this summer at the Alga Norte pool – tons of fun for everyone, including a splash pad and inflatable zone.
Vital Climbing Gym
“Every mountain top is within reach if you just keep climbing!” Vital Climbing Gym is a great boulder climbing gym right down off the 101 in Oceanside. Take the whole family for an active experience filled with challenges and accomplishments!
One Paseo
Don’t want to take a drive to the famous Grove in LA? Go hang out at the newest and impressively-stylish living, dining, shopping, and lifestyle destination. One Paseo is an urban village with curated shops, stellar dining and one-of-a-kind finds and services. With plenty to do, you could spend an entire day at this coastal meets country vibe entertainment stop.
Derby United
Whether you’re an avid roller derby player or just like to take part in a fun recreational roller skate, Derby United is a great spot. The venue offers party packages, roller skate rentals, groovy DJ music, colorful graffiti, dancing strobe lights and picture-perfect backdrops to capture the best memories. Make sure to check the website for their monthly calendar that shows hours of operation and slotted times for different activities.
Cinepolis Junior Theater
Catch a family-friendly movie at the Vista Cinepolis with a dedicated Junior Theater that screens all the latest and greatest kid friendly movies (G & PG) seven days a week. Designed for kids ages 3-12, the theater is equipped with slides, turf lawn, play structures, etc. Families are allowed to arrive 20 minutes early to let the kids exhaust all possible energy before show time. Once the lights dim you will be able to enjoy comfy, casual seating in either the long lounge chairs, or a huge bean bag chair. Talk about the perfect family movie spot!
Cat & Craft
North County’s newest feline phenomenon! Over 800 square feet of Cat & Craft is dedicated as a cage-free environment for the adoptable cats who reside at Cat & Craft until they meet their furrever family.
The cats get to enjoy plenty of cozy snoozing spots, natural light and vertical climbing space. As a guest at the cat lounge, snag a comfy chair or cushion and enjoy your favorite coffee beverage while meeting and interacting with Cat & Craft’s foster felines. Make a reservation for you and any other cat lovers (ages 6 and younger have designated “Kiddie Cat” hours), this will be your purr-fect playdate! Salt & Straw
First having major success in Little Italy, this will be Salt and Straw’s second San Diego scoop shop for the Portland-based creamery. If you’re looking for an excellent playdate to some handmade, deliciously interesting ice cream, this is your perfect escape. Known for their odd and limited creations, they also have the classics so there is always something for everyone!
EcoVivarium
Combining a more complex understanding of nature, with a passion for learning the value, complexity and fragility of the natural world is EcoVivarium’s main goal. This museum features reptiles, amphibians, and arthropods. We are pleased to share that 98% of their animals are rescues, while the other 2% are donated to the organization. If you schedule a tour through the museum, expect a very hands on experience, as you will have the chance to pet and/or hold up to 20 trained animal ambassadors.
Moonlight Amphitheater
If you’ve ever been to a live play you know just how fun and entertaining they can be! Especially at the Moonlight Amphitheater where you get to enjoy the theater experience outdoors under the stars. It’s the perfect setting to enjoy a picnic dinner before the lights dim and the show begins. Make sure you get your tickets in advance before they sell out. Trust us, this is one family date night you don’t want to miss.
