Did you know that the day before Thanksgiving, and the Sunday after Thanksgiving are the top 2 busiest days of the year for airline travel…? With an estimated 3.06 million passengers trying to get home for turkey day, it’s safe to say we’ll all be spending lots of time gathering around the dinner table with family this Thanksgiving… that is exactly why we are giving you something to talk about!

Top Thanksgiving Fun Facts:

  • According to Roto-Rooter, Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving) is the busiest day of the year for plumbers. (So if you’re going as a guest this year, you know exactly what host gift you need to bring… a plunger! LOL)
  • A person consumes an average of 3,000-4,500 calories at Thanksgiving dinner. (The food with the most calories is none other than our beloved pecan pie.)
  • Campbell’s soup created green bean casserole for an annual cookbook 50 years ago, and now sells $20 million worth of cream of mushroom soup in the U.S. annually.
  • Approx. 50 million pumpkin pies are consumed each Thanksgiving.
  • Americans consume 736 million pounds of turkey on Thanksgiving Day alone. (About the weight of the Empire State Building)
  • In 1953, someone at Swanson misjudged the number of frozen turkeys it would sell that Thanksgiving – by 26 TONS! That’s when an industry worker came up with a brilliant plan: Why not slice up the meat and repackage with some trimmings on the side? The first TV dinner was born!
  • Only male turkeys gobble.
